Hi everyone!
Last month, I launched Fried Rice into the world! It’s been quite busy but I’m glad to be moving forward with Fried Rice after publishing got delayed for so long!

Join me and Tuan Nini at CzipLee in Bangsar Village II on May 4th
I’m really excited to be hosting a talk with Tuan Nini next month! I’m familiar with Nini’s beautiful illustrations, animated pieces and comics from her Instagram so I’m thrilled to get to do this with her! She resides in Bucharest, Romania but is back in Malaysia doing some promo for her new graphic novel Dear Brother. Our talk is entitled “From Script to Shelf” which is pretty self-explanatory. Expect a deep dive into our writing, art and publishing process. It should be interesting because I self-published whereas Nini went the traditional route, so you’ll get to learn about both methods.
Tickets are RM10 per pax (but after that you can spend that money on any books in-store hehe).

Thanks everyone who attended my book launch events at Eslite and Art+ Contemporary Gallery. Here are some professional photos from my Eslite event taken by my childhood friend, Phanuel, who’s also an event photographer (how convenient for me ha ha).

My books are for sale at Art+ Contemporary Gallery until April 22nd so you can drop by, nab a copy and enjoy looking at the other installations there.
I was also invited by Tenby Schools in Setia Eco Park to teach some comic workshops at the start of this month for their annual Book Week. It was really fun to see what the kids came up with. Some of them took it very seriously and others… not so much 😂 Let’s just say that the next time I have a school event like this, I will double check before projecting a teen boy’s comic onto the big screen because it may contain some inappropriate drawings… 😐
In other news, I’ve started packing and shipping book orders myself!
Last month, I took the liberty of sending some copies to friends overseas to see how much it’d cost and roughly how long it’ll take (my friend in the UK received hers after about two weeks). If you’re interested in purchasing a copy to ship to an overseas address, you can order Fried Rice through my Ko-Fi shop. I’m not taking orders from Malaysian readers because I’d much rather have local bookstores handle local sales.
I realized that haven’t posted an update video in a while. I’ve just been up to my ears with work from my day job and events so I have barely enough time to rest on weekends 🫥 But once I get some important tasks out of the way I’ll go back to drawing beloved and filming videos again.
I have more events lined up for the rest of the year so stay tuned (hint: I’ll be in different countries for two of them!).
And that’s all the news for now! Thanks for reading and supporting my work and I’ll see you in the next one.
Erica.
